We are so excited about the offering of antique diamonds to our inventory that we decided to create a Misfit Diamonds collaboration with 3 amazing designers: Anueva Jewelry who has been an integral patron of Misfit Diamonds from the beginning, Jilian Maddin Jewelry who brings such a brilliant light to the world, and The North Way Studio who exudes vintage ring designs like nobody else. So, what do you get when you turn these three talented ladies out with an antique Misfit Diamond and creative freedom? Behold……

2.18ct Antique Old European Cut Diamond
My favorite diamonds are reclaimed and antique diamonds because of their rich history and their “reclaimed/recycled" nature. [So this collab was a perfect fit!]! The ring for our Hand Carved Vintage collab piece features a magnificent 2.18ct Old European Cut diamond with amazing clarity. Often these antique diamonds are warmer in color due to the mines where they were originally found over 100 years ago, but this diamond still "faces up" quite white. I love that it was hand cut in a totally different time period, and that the cutter’s intention was to make the diamond glow not only in bright light but also in low, candlelit type situations. This ring is meant to be worn by someone who loves a nature inspired and antique inspired aesthetic, and loves the idea of the long story behind the gorgeous 2.18ct stone.

1.15ct Antique Old Mine Cut Diamond
I was thrilled to be chosen for this collaboration. The guidelines of vintage-inspired and handcarved are right up my alley! Wax carving was, by far, my favourite part of my schooling/training and after 15 years, it is still my favourite part! Handcarving wax allows me the freedom to play with texture and design details that naturally translate way more beautifully when done by hand vs. digitally. I pulled inspo from eras-past, this piece carries with it some serious badass ‘shield’ vibes and makes for a great statement on the hand. I am definitely enjoying pushing the boundaries with chunky and wide everyday designs where the super fine and delicate themes have been in the spotlight for half a decade.

Working with antique diamonds is always something magical. They've seen ages pass that are just stories to us now--but to hold, and feel something from those times, is truly an honor. The Menagerie ring is a nod to that excitement and electricity. It's a talisman of brightness in layers of diamonds and leaves unfurling; a distilled essence of dappled light on a spring morning lost somewhere in time, spun into whittled 18 karat green and white gold.

Canadian Diamonds from Gahcho Kué mine
The Gahcho Kué diamond mine is a joint venture between Mountain Province Diamonds, which owns 49% of the project, and De Beers Canada, which holds a 51% interest and is the mine’s operator. The joint venture property is located in the Northwest Territories of Canada, 300 km east-northeast of Yellowknife, on the traditional territories of Tłįchǫ, Dene, and Métis people. The mine site lies on the edge of the continuous permafrost zone in an area known as the barren lands due to its lack of forests.
