How and when you got into the trade?
I was raised in British Columbia and received a bachelor’s degree in Design from the Ontario College of Art and Design. I continued my studies with an Artistic Residency in the Jewelry and Silversmithing Department of the Glasgow School of Art. During my time in Europe, I developed my production skills, started my career as an educator and furthered my practice with workshops, studying at the renowned Alchimia Contemporary Jewellery School in Florence.
When I came back to Canada, I worked with a well known contemporary jeweller further honing my technical skills and expanding my knowledge of creating custom pieces and working on capsule collections. This experience piqued my entrepreneurial spirit and I became more and more interested in building a brand. I built a small team and worked on growing the company by increasing our online presence and sales strategy through our website and social media accounts. I launched my first line in 2012 and opened my boutique in 2017!
How would you describe your work in 5 words?
Timeless, Balanced, Confident, Curious, Uncomplicated.
Where do you take your inspiration from?
I’m inspired by interstitial spaces and nature’s raw materials. My work plays with contrast and volume. In paring dissimilar elements together — stone and gem, pearl and metal — the work has a unique balance and timelessness. I draw on my artistic training to design pieces with a focus on the singularity of the material, highlighting their natural magnetism.

What was the most memorable piece that you made?
This is a great question! It’s interesting to take a moment to think about what is the most memorable piece and why. The most memorable piece I made was for a client who wanted to commission a ring for the birth of her second daughter. The brief was to create a piece that was funky and bold. I was given carte blanche to interpret that through the materials and the result was really unique in it’s combination of materials and colours. It felt great to be granted creative freedom with the full trust of the client in creating something so meaningful as well as different for us!

Why do you enjoy working with Misfit diamonds?
I love working with Misfit Diamonds because of their commitment to carrying beautiful and interesting diamonds through transparent and responsible sourcing. Misfit Diamonds really speak to my aesthetic on their own and in a finished piece. I often find that my design ideas change slightly once I receive the stones which really speak to their unique character.
